Welcome to our first installment of Tutu (Tutu is Grandma in Hawaiian) Tuesday, where we share valuable advice and engaging activities for grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, and babysitters—anyone who provides care and fun for little ones. Today, we’re focusing on activities for babies aged 6-9 months. I'm Tutu Lisa, a former Preschool and Kindergarten teacher with a degree in human development, a teaching credential, and a master's degree in teacher leadership, here to share some of my favorite activities for this delightful age group that I am currently experiencing with my own grandson...
Happy Tutu Tuesday, everyone! This week, we’re stepping into Valentine’s Day with a heartwarming craft: Footprint Valentine Cards. Whether you’re working with infants, preschoolers, or even older kiddos, this activity is a perfect way to create a personalized gift that shows just how much you care. Imagine tiny footprints turning into adorable cards or, with a little help from your older kids, even a fun twist where you get in on the painting action too!
Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
• Non-toxic Red Paint – for that perfect pop of color
• Thick-Tip Black Sharpie – to add sweet, detailed accents
• Half Sheet of Children’s Watercolor Paper – your blank canvas for love
• Paper Plate & Paint Brush – for easy mixing and application
• Wipes/Paper Towels and Soap – because a little mess is part of the fun!
Gather your supplies, let your creativity flow, and watch as your little ones’ footprints turn into cherished keepsakes.
Share the love by tagging us in your posts - we can’t wait to see your creative masterpieces!

Tutu Tuesday Activity: Mess Free Painting
By Blissful Leisure Guide
This week’s Tutu Tuesday brings a fun, mess-free twist on a classic childhood activity: finger painting! Clean Finger Painting is a sensory activity that lets your little ones explore their creativity without the worry of messy cleanups or accidental taste tests.
Perfect for toddlers who still put their fingers in their mouths or children with sensitivity to certain textures, this activity brings the joy of painting in a safe and engaging way. Plus, it’s a fantastic opportunity to encourage self-expression while developing fine motor skills and creativity.
Why Clean Finger Painting is Perfect for Toddlers
• Safe for Little Ones: Since there’s no direct contact with the paint, it’s ideal for toddlers who love to explore by taste.
• Texture-Friendly: For kids who aren’t comfortable with messy hands, this provides a tactile experience without the discomfort.
• Encourages Creativity: Little artists can mix colors, create patterns, and express themselves freely.

How to Set It Up
1. Cut art paper to fit in the ziplock bag (if it is not already the correct size)
2. Label paper with child’s name and date with a sharpie.
3. Place a sheet of white paper inside a gallon-size resealable plastic bag.
4. Add a few dollops of washable paint onto the paper. Use 2-3 colors for a beautiful blend.
5. Seal the bag securely, pressing out as much air as possible.
6. (Optional) Use masking tape to secure the bag to a table or high chair tray to prevent slipping. I didn’t do this.
7. Hand it to your child and let them “paint” by pressing, smearing, and mixing the colors inside the bag.
Tips for Success
• Supervise toddlers to ensure they don’t try to open the bag.
• Encourage your child to talk about the colors and patterns they see, turning this into a vocabulary-building activity as well.
• Display their “masterpieces” by carefully removing the paper from the bag once the paint is dry.

Happy Tutu Tuesday!
This week, we are returning playtime into a fine motor adventure. Grab your toddlers favorite small toys and some painters tape, and tape those toys to the wall for a fun challenge. Watch as your little one practices peeling the tape off and removing the toys all while strengthening their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Plus, its a fantastic opportunity for language development! Chat with your child as they play, identifying colors, shapes, and new vocabulary. Just a quick reminder: keep a close eye on them to ensure the tape doesn’t end up in their mouth.
Get ready for a day filled with learning, laughter, and a little bit of sticky fun!
